Hello Everyone,

I started the hcg injections about a week ago. I was very happy to see that after gaining about 3 pounds over the load days i've dropped 1.5-3.5 pounds each day since then. I'm so happy I learned about this diet and I'm doing ok at managing my hunger. I haven't experienced and bad side effects but there was an issue I wanted to discuss with other HCG users. It seems like the further I get into the VLCD phase, the harder it is for me to focus and concentrate. I don't feel drowsy or bad, but I just feel like since I started the diet I'm just kind of blah. I know thats not very descriptive but I was wondering if anyone else feels this way, and if you've found a good way around it while staying with the guidelines. Also, if you just wanna sound off on how you're feeling physically while on P2 feel free.

Some dieters may wondering why they are not losing like they expected to lose?
Here's some possible reasons.

Expectations not realistic: The majority of participants will lose an average of just under a pound a day. This means that some people lose more than a pound (usually large males) and some lose as little as .2 pounds average per day. If your scale is registering a loss of any size, you are NOT in a stall. Women especially tend to lose in a stair-step fashion. Many times you are losing inches when you are not losing weight.

Stationary Period: The first is the one that has already been mentioned in which the weight stays stationary for a day or two, and this occurs, particularly towards the end of a course, in almost every case.

Plateaus: A plateau lasts 4-6 days and frequently occurs during the second half of a full course, particularly in patients that have been doing well and whose overall average of nearly a pound per effective injection have been maintained. Those who are losing more than the average will all have a plateau sooner or later. A plateau always corrects itself, but many patients who have become accustomed to a regular daily loss get unnecessarily worried. No amount of explanation convinces them that a plateau does not mean that they are no longer responding normally to treatment.

In such cases we consider it permissible, for purely psychological reasons, to break up the plateau. This can be done in two ways. One is a so-called “apple day”. An apple-day begins at lunch and continues until just before lunch of the following day. The patients are given six large apples and are told to eat one whenever they feel the desire though six apples is the maximum allowed. During an apple-day no other food or liquids except plain water are allowed and of water they may only drink just enough to quench an uncomfortable thirst if eating an apple still leaves them thirsty. Most patients feel no need for water and are quite happy with their six apples. Needless to say, an apple-day may never be given on the day on which there is no injection. The apple-day produces a gratifying loss of weight on the following day, chiefly due to the elimination of water. This water is not regained when the patients resume their normal 500-calorie diet at lunch, and on the following days they continue to lose weight satisfactorily.

Reaching a Former Level   The third type of interruption in the regular loss of weight may last much longer - ten days to two weeks. Fortunately, it is rare and only occurs in very advanced cases, and then hardly ever during the first course of treatment. It is seen only in those patients who during some period of their lives have maintained a certain fixed degree of obesity for ten years or more and have then at some time rapidly increased beyond that weight. When then in the course of treatment the former level is reached, it may take two weeks of no loss, in spite of HCG and diet, before further reduction is normally resumed.

Menstrual Interruption   The fourth type of interruption is the one which often occurs a few days before and during the menstrual period and in some women at the time of ovulation. It must also be mentioned that when a woman becomes pregnant during treatment - and this is by no means uncommon - she at once ceases to lose weight. An unexplained arrest of reduction has on several occasions raised our suspicion before the first period was missed. If in such cases, menstruation is delayed, we stop injecting and do a precipitation test five days later. No pregnancy test should be carried out earlier than five days after the last injection, as otherwise the HCG may give a false positive result. Oral contraceptives may be used during treatment.

Dietary Errors
“Any interruption of the normal loss of weight which does not fit perfectly into one of those categories is always due to some possibly very minor dietary error. Similarly, any gain of more than 100 grams is invariably the result of some transgression or mistake, unless it happens on or about the day of ovulation or during the three days preceding the onset of menstruation, in which case it is ignored. In all other cases the reason for the gain must be established at once.”

Not following the plan to the “T”
          o Not enough fluids
          o Not enough calories
          o Too many calories
o Eating foods not specified by Dr. S.
          o Using beverages not allowed
          o Adding fats and sugars

Hidden oils/fats and sugar
Re-check your personal care products, household products or products that you use in your work situations for hidden ingredients.

HCG has lost its potency (LAST thing to consider when all others have been explored and eliminated): If you are feeling extreme hunger and should not have reached a point where immunity could be the problem, try mixing a new batch.

KT has answer to your question. This is what he said in his "Weight Loss cure"

"Simeons found that the body has a tendency to create an immunity to hCG. Therefore, staying on Phase 2 for longer than six weeks is not advised. You must take at least a six-week break before you start the injections and protocol of Phase 2 again This is important, as once your body starts developing immunity to hCG you will no longer be burning abnormal fat reserves, but rather start burning structural fat and muscle. Therefore, if you complete six weeks of Phase 2, and still desire to lose more weight, you must then do Phase 3 for six weeks. Then, do Phase 2 again up to a maximum of six weeks. If you still have more weight you wish to lose, then do Phase 3 for eight weeks. Then, do Phase 2 again for up to a maximum of six weeks. If you still have more weight you wish to lose, do Phase 3 for ten weeks. Then, do Phase 2 again for a maximum of six weeks. Continue adding two weeks to Phase 3 for as long as you need. When you have reached your desired weight during Phase 2, continue by doing Phase 3 for three weeks, then continue to Phase 4."

Hope this helps.

I am on VLCD 9- started at 232 and am down to 217!  Even though I am a large woman I do keep fairly active and have had to tweak the eating to be able to do some training for upcoming walking events that I am signed up for.  Last night- well after work- I was absolutely FRANTIC to eat, not hungry so much as feeling like I needed fuel NOW.  I know some of it is pure emotional eating- which got me here, and some of it is probably needing fuel (I had an hour of yoga and an hour of walking during the day).  I ate peanut butter and melba and reached 1200 calories for the day but today I weight the same as yesterday.  I also have been substituting some of the protein meals with baked tofu or tempeh which has also worked out well as I do not eat much meat.  I do miss alcohol- another cause of this fat on my body- and am hoping to limit myself to one glass of wine at an auction this weekend that I am attending.  Anyone else have experience with this type of thing?

Focusing on the weight you have already lost. I think you were not really hungry.

Don't cheat and follow the diet exactly as Dr. Simeons prescribed. Don't let occasional cheating slow down or even fail your weight loss. Hang in there !
